On August 16th, full-service outfit Mattos Engelberg Advogados announced its two newest partners via a lateral hire and a promotion. White-collar crime lawyer, Paula Oliveira, joins from now defunct boutique Cavalcanti & Arruda Botelho Advogados, whilst tax specialist, Paula Pires, enters the partnership via internal promotion. The move brings Mattos Engelberg’s partner tally to 23 practitioners.
New Partners
New white-collar crime partner, Paula Lima Hyppolito Oliveira is based in São Paulo and will closely collaborate with partners Conrado Donati Antunes and Paulo Victor Marcondes Buzanelli in the Corporate Criminal Law department. Ms. Oliveira holds a Bachelor of Laws from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP) and two postgraduate degrees in Economic Criminal Law from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and Economic Criminal Law and European Law from Universidade de Coimbra. She offers clients over 15 years of experience in criminal law and formerly practiced at boutique Cavalcanti & Arruda Botelho Advogados alongside acclaimed white-collar practitioner, Dora Cavalcanti.
Paula Beatriz Loureiro Pires undertook her undergraduate legal studies at Universidade de São Paulo (USP), later earning a specialization degree in Tax Law from Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Tributário (IBET) and Instituto Paulista de Direito Continuado (IPEC). With 15 years of experience in the market, Ms. Pires practiced at several major firms such as Mattos Filho Advogados, Passos & Sticca Advogados and Gasparini, De Cresci e Nogueira de Lima Advogados before joining current firm Mattos Engelberg in mid-2017. She is a part of both the Asset Management and Succession Planning department as well as the firm’s Tax practice, specializing in tax planning, litigation, consultancy and audits.
