Brazil initiates anti-dumping investigation on imports of nylon filaments from China, South Korea, Thailand and Chinese Taipei

On December 24, 2018, Brazil’s Secretariat of Foreign Trade (“SECEX”) of the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (“MDIC”) published Notice of Initiation No. 65, initiating the sunset review of the duties applied on imports of nylon filaments originating in China, South Korea, Thailand and Chinese Taipei. The product is commonly classified under items 5402.31.11, 5402.31.19 and 5402.45.20 of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature – NCM (HS based). The petitioner is the Brazilian Association of Artificial and Sintetic – ABRAFAS.

The product under investigation was defined as nylon filaments (polyamide 6, polyamide 6,6) less than 50 tex, any number of filaments, profile or level of opacity (glossy, semi-opaque or opaque), textured or not, not yarned or measuring per single yarn not more than 50 decitex, dyed, opaque or whitened exported from China, South Korea, Thailand and Chinese Taipei to Brazil.
